Shortcuts

This workshop is part of the Graphics Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. More information about the lab can be found on its main page and requests pages (Illustrations ; Photographs ; Maps ; Video and Sound). To ask questions or make a suggestions, see the talk page of the graphic lab page.

This specific page is the requests page for the Photography Workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Watermark removal would be very much appreciated. This bears the only image of the subject I could find that is unaffected by URAA restoration. If it were possible to have a cropped version of the right-hand image without the top-right corner of the archive stamp, that would be even better! Felix QW (talk) 10:15, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've done my best on GIMP at File:Llazar Fundo ID (cropped and dewatermarked).jpeg, but I failed to properly remove the watermark on anything but the portrait photo or remove the stamp. I suppose the crop is serviceable for now though. Felix QW (talk) 07:40, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gabuxae: With perspective correction he just meant straightening out the distortion created by the camera lens. The lens distortion causes the building to lean in at the edges - it leans to the right on the left side of the photo and to the left on the right side. For a pretty mild example of what I mean see the changes made at File:Miradouro da Serra da Castanheira - Portugal (16402605263).jpg ReneeWrites (talk) 19:52, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find any places on this image where lens distortion is noticeable. Every straight line is straight, unlike the original version of file you linked. - Gabuxae (talk) 19:12, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if my wording wasn't clear enough. I meant that the verticals aren't quite vertical, not that the straight lines aren't straight. I was just hoping to give you some advice to help get this person through QI. You can find the guidelines here: COM:IG, the bottom section deals with perspective correction. @Abo Yemen: I'm a bit iffy on overwriting an original file when it comes to non-trivial image restorations. But I had the cropped version removed as a duplicate (it was practically identical), so now it's just the original and retouched version. ReneeWrites (talk) 23:18, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The clutter all around image need to be blanked out

I want to keep the image in the square shape as shown. No cropping is needed. But I want all the clutter removed from outside the outer black circular line. There's nothing to erase from the four touching corners, but the four areas in-between. Please blank it all out in an off-white, similar to the color of the wall in this image: File:Martin_gets_check.jpg. It's the middle picture in the WP article "Paul Martin (illustrator), under the heading "Gallery." It's like a standard white color which is made less bright, so the edges show up. Thanks.
